What Is Spravato®

Traditional antidepressants work on serotonin. Spravato® works differently — directly on NMDA receptors — which is why it helps patients who haven't responded to other medications.

Spravato® is esketamine — a nasal spray derived from ketamine and approved by the FDA in 2019 specifically for adults with treatment-resistant depression (TRD) or major depressive disorder with acute suicidal ideation (MDD-SI).

Sessions are administered in our Livermore clinic under physician supervision. You'll relax in a private room for approximately two hours while the medication is active. Dr. Parsa monitors you throughout.

Most patients complete an induction phase (twice weekly for 4 weeks), followed by a maintenance schedule (weekly, then monthly). Many report improvement within the first 1-2 sessions.
